‘PR’ Wiebelhusky's Kona
CGC, TDI
is our first Alaskan Klee Kai, he came from Wiebelhusky's Kennel in North Dakota (now in Kansas). He is a standard grey and white male, his sire is CH‘PR’ Helderberg's Kodiak and dam is
GRCH‘PR’ Wiebelhusky's Princess
Fiona. Needless to say Kona got a lot of spunk from them both. He got
Kodiak's excessive energy and Fiona's silliness, which makes for
never-ending excitement. Below is a picture of the whole family at a Minneapolis Dog show.
Kona will be competing for his Rally Obedience Title starting in July. We were so excited when UKC added Rally-O to the competition line up, as Kona took a Rally-O class as a puppy and thuroughly enjoyed it!
.
At the
2007 Alaskan Klee Kai Specialty held in Springfield, MO, Kona was our big
winner. He took home Best Altered Male and Best Altered of Breed his first
time ever in a conformation ring. Because of his excellent obedience
training, and attentiveness, he won Kristi the Best Showman Award. She was
so flattered, completely surprised, and VERY Proud!
Kona is busy with Therapy Dog
International (TDI), he was the first Certified Alaskan Klee Kai in the Midwest and State of Minnesota (there's a few more now!) and has been a Therapy Dog for Four years. The Therapy Group Pals on Paws meets once a month and then Matt and Kona visit
elder-care facilities randomly during the month and help test new dogs. Kona
has always loved people and other dogs, so he represents the breed well and is a natural and completely
loves it!
Kona
also loves Agility, which he has been doing since he was a puppy. His
favorite things are the teeter totter and tunnels. When we are out for a
walk he uses a retaining wall for a dog walk. He spent the night at his
trainers home once when she had the agility equipment set up. Apparently he
kept running over the regulation height teeter totter all on his own while
she was working in her garden. Guess we hadn't told her how much he liked
it, because she was completely surprised!
He
also just started weight pulling. Now that his new custom harness is here,
he can practice a bit more. He is very unsure because we taught him not to
pull, and now we want him too- he gives us this real funny look and takes a
few steps. He will get better with practice.
